Trivial Update - Chicken Kickin

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 72 will be right back after this PSA: Remember, South Cracky has won more NCs in August than any other team.

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 72 "If it clucks..." Welcome to the Twitter Twivia show everyone. I'm your host Davey Pollack. REPLY back your answer for a chance at an ACTUAL prize. Everyone remembers my INT in the Gamecock endzone in 2002. But the game was won by way of a Thomas Davis fumble recovery in the waning seconds. Name the chicken that fumbled it.

It was the last week of 'actual" prizes. Skelly has been kind enough to offer some tunes to Matt, Shan and this week....Scott! Shan actually beat him to the punch, but as it clearly states in the TrT rule book winners can only claim prizes that are given outside of three weeks apart.*

As Scott says, at this point he'll take a win in whatever way he can get it. Y'all go visit Skelly's Facebook page and get your hunker down.

To close this out, let's take a look at the highlights from that game. But first, remember to pause for an hour until the lightning passes.

h/t pr1sonmike

*rule book = greasy Waffle House napkin. And rule only applies to actual prizes. Normal "fabulous" prizes can be divvied out as if they were  flu shots in February.

Trivial Update - Tricky lil Smurfs

#ThursdaysRTrivial will resume right after this PSA: Zabransky...now that guy could really spread the red!! But only for 1st half. #Dawgs

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 72 "Fool me once..." Welcome back everybody! It's the weekly Twitter Twivia show that always has something up its sleeve. REPLY back your answer for a chance at an ACTUAL prize. The Broncos are known for their trick plays. What BSU receiver completed all 4 of his passes for 2 TDs last season?

For the second week of three Skelly has provided the actual prize. Here's the way this one played out:

So, returning champion Shan gets the tunes. Meanwhile everyone else up there gets a vial of Gargamel's potion. (Unless you'd all rather have some D.A.'s special purple drank.)

Trivial Update - Just SMUrfy

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 71 coming up right after this PSA: despite nat'l opinion, it has been confirmed that BSU broncos are just bucking idiots.

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 71 "Go you Red Britches!" Welcome to the Twitter Twivia Show that is never stylish, but always trendsetting. REPLY back your answer for a chance at an "actual prize" this week. (Wahoo!) In '87 UGA and Clempson squared off in an "alternative" pants game, Dawgs in red and tigers in orange. In that game senior Mark Vincent grabbed his first INT as a Dawg. Where did Vincent play his first three years of college?

Is this week's episode more proof that history is destined to repeat itself? According to many 40+ year old men with fashion degrees and a DVR full of Project Runway, the Dawgs and horsies are in a clothing crisis. In news with more of a national flair, Miami has tiptoed the Death Penalty line. So what does a top notch blogger do? Tie the two together WITH a season from 24 years ago.

Folks, you just don't get this kind of crap out in Boise.

Nice read over at Garbin's spot about the history of red pants in Georgia football. In 1987 the fallout from the SMU death penalty was as real as a $.90 gallon of gas. Georgia reaped the rewards of getting Vincent. And nearly a quarter century later a blogger would use him in a trivia contest.

Only in America folks.

The stakes were high in this one as this is the first of three episodes that Skelly has agreed to provide the swag. Google was friendly to each contestant, but Matt was just a little faster with the fingers and takes home some tunes for his tailgate season. On the other hand Mike, Sean, Nama and Shan can't go home empty-handed...so they get some Eric Dickerson hair gel, circa 1982. Hey! At least it's not a mirror from Craig James' bathroom.

Thanks for playing y'all. The rest of you...Follow me! And tune in next week when things get really Smurftastic!

Trivial Update - Scott Woerner just beat Clempson again

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 70 coming up right after this PSA: Nearly two year's worth of trivia & not a single one vacated. #TrT #engiNerds

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 70 "Remodel, Remember" It's the Twittah Trivia Show that's a proven playmaker. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. Recently #BDB underwent a remodeling. Who's the legend featured on the picture banner at the top?

In case you missed it, Scott Woerner had a lot to do with my early years as a Georgia fan. I think it was Ollllddude who made the point that Woerner is one of many great safeties Georgia has produced.  But little did I know back in 1980 when he sealed the deal against NotHer Dame that I would end up hosting a gameshow with #19 on it. Awesome.

Remember, the Tweetdeck reads from bottom to top. So @TNRLM gets the top prize, a commemorative 70th episode coin valued at over six and a half cents. @the_real_paige gets the memo she missed. New dad @benwilderv gets pants that aren't poopy. And @Stuff_of_Legend gets a commemorative 70th episode TrT koozie, valued at...whatever he gets on eBay.

Tune in for episode 71 when we do keg stands with Garcia at Mangus' condo. Epic.

Twitter's Greatest Gameshow: ThursdaysRTrivial Announcement

Is it back? Yes. Every week? Not likely. Is that okay? Well, we'll see.

If you follow me on Twitter you may or may not know what this is about. If you have no desire to join and/or follow me, then you can probably disregard this post...and any further posts related to Trivial Updates.

Tomorrow we will have episode 70 of #ThursdaysRTrivial. If you're a new follower, this is where I tweet out a trivia question (usually related to UGA Athletics) and the first to respond with the correct answer gets a "fabulous prize". The prize is just as fictitious as it is non-existent, but they're always spectacular.

The last #TrT was way back in March. And to be honest there have been few episodes so far this year. But it's never left the stove altogether; it's just been simmering there on the back burner. Now I'd like to try it again.

The biggest reason for it dropping off in intensity has been time, energy. Despite truly enjoying each and every episode, I just got to where I would get home from work and not have the energy to move forward with it. Plus kids tend to make things busy after 5 o'clock, what with their math homework, reading practice, Wii contests, science projects due the next day and various sports/activities.

But technology doesn't constrain me to that particular time each and every week. In fact, as you read this tomorrow's question is in the Tweetdeck queue ready to go out tomorrow at...well, you'll have to check in to find out. The question (I think) is rather easy. So maybe you'll win the prize. Maybe it's Kellen Moore's playbook. Or maybe it is Kwame Geathers' overtaxed scooter. I can tell you one thing for sure, it's not a case of mononucleosis. So stay away from public water fountains...and close to my twitter timeline.

Best of luck!

Trivial Update - Herschel IS Bo!

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 69 is coming up after this PSA: Wear your Tweet Bio Hazard suit this week. I think Sheen spilled tiger blood all over the twittah.

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 69 "Happy Birthday Goalline Stalker" Welcome to the Twitter Twivia Show that flattens Bates like a pancake. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. In his autobiography "Breaking Free", Walker goes into great detail about his childhood experiences growing up in Wrightsville GA. What was his family nickname?

Before the world knew Bo Jackson, Herschel was being referred to as "Bo" around his home growing up. Years later, even on the field Jackson couldn't emerge from Herschel's enormous shadow.

h/t Garbin

Bo is a simple name, and last night's episode was also short and to the point. Ally had the right answer and for her knowledge gets some sugar that fell from the sky. Winning on the plains is always a sweet endeavour.

Bo may know Diddley, but the ball seemed a little heavier to him than it did to the Goalline Stalker. That's just my casual observation. Tune in next week you trivialists when Coach Perno makes a guest appearance.*

Trivial Update - Can I buy a catch out of the backfield?

#ThursdaysRTrivial is coming up right after this PSA: Alabama is now under more civil unrest than the livestock shortage of 1972.
#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 68 "A General Receiver" Welcome to the weekly Twitter Twivia show that's never computerized. While Watson outsmarts Trebek, TrT has a human guest hostess...Vanna White!! "Thanks Bernie, REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. Herschel caught 26 passes in three years of college. How many did he catch as a rookie in New Jersey?"

Never send an IBM hard drive to tackle a 6 star stud from Wrightsville GA. That's 6 stars for every point he earned his team in each goal line he stalked.

When I was writing yesterday's post and looking through Herschel's stats, it was that record in 1995 that really stood out to me. In three singular plays, it sums up what is so special about the athlete that Walker is. One of a kind, a legend in his own time.

So Scott once again edged out Shan in another photo finish. They both had #34 down for 53 receptions in his rookie year with Trump's cash, but Vanna liked the vowels in Stuff_of_Legend's handle better than the consonants in TNRLM's. Mike came in third with fast thumbs, but a slow 3G network.

Show em what they've won Vanna!

Well Bernie, Scott takes home this bust of Herschel's head, made completely from english privet. We hear Canton is green with envy. Shan gets a Hot Wheels Trans-Am and Mike a portable WiFi hotspot that stays linked to NASA's servers 24/7. Just don't ever search the term "sputnik". Back to you Dawg!

Thanks Vanna. If only we had a fourth contestant this week we could've given away Sajak's hair piece. But tune in next Thursday when we answer the question...should you bend over and pick up the Spike 80DF when you drop it in a Lee County prison shower ?

Trivial Update - Chariots of FUTA

#ThursdaysRTrivial is coming up right after this PSA: punishment runs should never be considered attendance optional.

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 67 "Chariots of FUTA: Fire Under That Ass" Welcome to the weekly trivia show that just barfed doing stadium steps. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. How many laps did Ben Dukes finish in his punishment run back in February of 2000?

How do you know you're cuddled up in the wrong doghouse? You keep hearing dramatic piano music and seeing men running barefoot on the beach. A fire was lit under Ealey's rear and he evidently decided to fart on it. However, 11 years ago offensive lineman Ben Dukes decided to do damage control instead.

Having dug a hole, Dukes threw down the shovel and started running...

Actually, I don't see Dukes in any part of that trailer. But according to this post on his blog, he decided to GATA.

New to the Twitter Twivia Show, Andrea came in first place on her first try...and had the correct answer - 24. For her trouble she gets a replica of Ben Dukes alarm clock circa 2000 AD (the orginal is either encased on the floor of Butts-Mehre or was destroyed by a sleepy fist...). In second place, Mike had some issues with his blackberry app fancy doohickie device. He answered 26 a couple minutes after Andrea and gets a slightly used set of horseshoes. (Sorry, handgrenades don't ship FedEx any longer.)

Thanks for playing tweeps. Until next time, if you feel a flame on the seat of your pants..it's probably time to lace up the running shoes.

Trivial Update - Believin' in Belin

#ThursdaysRTrivial is coming up right after this PSA: two donuts at Butts-Mehre will make Herschel's trophy case picture frown at you.

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 66 "Believin' in Belin" It's the weekly Twitter Twivia show thats full up on donuts. REPLY back your answer for a chance @ a fabulous prize. Our now former LB coach was an All-SEC player @ Wake Forest during '87-90. But what are his daughters' names?

Just couldn't let Coach Belin get out of town without becoming a guest on my mostly weekly trivia show. And boy...news broke just in time.

Warren Belin came to us of course from Vanderbilt where he spent a few years helping to make our lives miserable on offense. Add to that the job he did with our inside LBs this season and he's definitely ready for Sundays.

Warren, we hardly knew ya.

But plenty of tweeps knew enough about his family to tweet in Camryn, Morgan and MacKenzi. First by a narrow margin was Scott, who breaks a nice run by Shan our second place finisher. After those two came Angie and Nama. A logjam of talent, no losers but only one winner. The fabulous prizes in order of finish:

  • Scott - a snazzy Belinesque beige safari hat, rumored to have been thrown at an unnamed linebacker during a Memphis practice.
  • Shan - Coach Taylor's super stern, extra awesome coaching sunglasses. After Wednesday *sniff* he ain't gonna need em.
  • Angie - a very used Novak Djokovich wrist band, I think it absorbed most of Andy Murray's dignity.
  • Nama - a bottle of Geritol now that you're officially an old man, welcome to the club! Take one a day with a tall glass of Sweewater 420.

Tune in next week when Vanna White guest hosts. Would you like to buy a vowel?

Tony Parker's Living Room

Was a little surprised at the groaning directed at Coach Fox about the hardwood loss the other night. Surprised that the honeymoon is over so quick...and surprised that we've built ourselves so quickly into a fanbase that expects basketball wins so quickly.

Don't get me wrong, I think both are good. As true Dawgs we should expect to win every game, and that's a feeling that hasn't come frequently in relation to men's basketball.

That being said, if you are yet to be completely sold on Coach Mark Fox you have certainly reached for the wallet. If not, I question your sanity. Why? Just take a look at the recruits that are entertaining him and his staff in their own living rooms. Felton wouldn't have made it past Marcus Thornton's mailbox last spring. Fox is sitting on the same cushions as the likes of Matta, Calhoun, Williams, Pitino, Calipari and Mike friggin' Krzyzewski.

Fletcher Page ran a piece the other day on Miller Grove's Tony Parker. He's a 6'9" 265 lb stud who loves the game of basketball and has helped his team to two state championships. He described himself to Page as "wide open" in terms of recruiting. Normally these caliber state kids aren't considering the Athens zip codes even when they're this wide open.
While Parker is a national recruit, he has spent time visiting home state schools. He took a trip to Athens to see Georgia knock off Kentucky Jan. 8.
“It was good. I liked it. It was nice,” Parker said. “They had a good matchup with Kentucky. They played really hard and got a good win… I’ve been knowing Georgia since (former head coach Dennis) Felton.”
Felton actually offered Parker while he was still just an eighth grader. Once Mark Fox took over in 2009, he let Parker know he was a top target.
“He’s a real good coach,” Parker said of Fox. “He’s cool. He’s making his program known, and that’s good for Georgia.”
When Parker narrows his list down this Fall, if Georgia is still on it I'll admit that I'd be shocked. But only because this is unfamiliar territory for me as a UGA hoops fan. Sure, we've recruited and signed kids like Parker before. But if it becomes a habitual occurrence, we'll know he's doing more than wiping his feet off at the door.

And now for something much more trivial...

#ThursdaysRTrivial is coming up right after this PSA: We interrupt this hiatus and take you back to your regularly scheduled awesomeness.

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 65 "Tony Parker's Living Room". We're back! And we're just as bad as ever. It's the weekly Twivia Show that crawls through those tangly interwebs just to clog up your Twitter Feed. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize! Tony Parker is a star at Miller Grove HS and a big in state target for Coach Mark Fox. What team did Georgia play at Stegeman during Parker's last visit to Athens?

A Twitter trivia show can evidently go on hiatus, but that doesn't mean that Shan's trivial knowledge and ability to make Google bow to his supremacy takes a break. Even when the Twitlonger servers buckled at the weight of #ThursdaysRTrivial's url requests, he powered through and came back with the winning answer: Kentucky. He takes home the Parker family's old remote found under a seat cushion, so now he doesn't have to even stand up to change the channel, much less walk twenty feet to turn the dial. Ally was close and had the right answer, so she gets one of those sofa arm rest cover thingies. The Parkers tell me the stain is not from Pitino, so enjoy!

Last but not least, Mike and Blake both chimed in with Missy State. That might sound bizarro, but an educated guess is better than none at all. So you both get the loose change that fell out of Calipari's pocket into Mr. Parker's La-Z-Boy. I think there's enough there to buy a blue-chipper!

And before we leave episode 65, I did some digging into the #ThursdaysRTrivial archives with the intention of finding the top three episodes pre-hiatus. I was mostly successful and wanted to share.

3. At number 3 is one of my personal favorites. Frequent BDB commenter Olllddude happened to have family ties near a spot we used as a spring vacation last year, St. Augustine. With the help of modern technological devices and navigation systems we were able to do a drive by tourist style and snap a pic. It reminded me of my grandmother's old house. Plus, I love a good pirate story involving treasure. Scott grabbed the top prize.

2. The second most impressive answer comes from none other than Kit Kitchens. I can't find the post, but I found myself in traffic around the Atlanta airport one Thursday early in the series. So for episode 4 I snapped a picture of a sign outside of the west terminal as I dropped the wife off for some girls' trip. Unbelievably, LudaKit recognized it rather easily.

1. And the most impressive answer in the series came in episode 5. I would have to say I made this one pretty difficult to find, as close to google proof as I've been able to manage. Yet, John not only proved to be a reader of Jeff Owens' blog back when #95 was still on campus, but also remembered from a post there that Clint Boling's favorite dessert was Mama's Apple Pie. It's also one of the most calorie rich episodes we'll likely ever have.

Stay tuned in for next week's episode when we cast a shadow on a groundhog!

Trivial Update - Is this thing on?

If you follow me on the Twittah or just have simply enjoyed the trivial updates over the last year and a half, this post is for you. I feel the need to address some rumors going around.

First of all, we have NOT been suspended by the FCC. It is true they were in our offices, but it was just a routine audit. So nothing to see here. Please move along.

And no, I wasn't offered more money by Bobby Lowder. We're simply on a little hiatus. Life gets in the way sometimes and work and parenthood have kicked it up a notch here lately. The questions have been pretty easy to gather and confine into a tweet. But let's face it, it hasn't done the Dawgs much good this season.

So, we'll probably just suspend things until after the season. Of course that could come as early as November 28th the way things stand. But we'll see.

At any rate I thought I would end this post with a few highlights over the course of the first 64 episodes. There've been ups. There've been downs. But in the end, it's all just been trivial.
  • First and foremost, Shan currently holds a 5 tweet winning streak. To date, that's unequaled.
  • Most wins, Ally. There was a time when I thought she might be stalking the show.
  • Only winner of an actual prize, Scott. He got an ACTUAL t-shirt in lieu of a fabulous prize for knowing MSUs Jameon Lewis (like Georgia's own Josh Davis) was from Tylertown MS. Scott didn't invent Google, he just pwns it!!!1
  • Most difficult answer...no question, episode 5. John had to tweet in what Clint Boling's favorite dessert is, Mama's Apple Pie. I've never posted a question that had an answer so deeply buried in the Dawgosphere. John can work a cyber shovel y'all.
Thanks for the support, everyone. Episode 66 will be landing on your Tweetdeck before you know it. Let's just hope it doesn't leave any droppings.

Trivial Update - Hap Hines, the full Monte?

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 64 is coming up right after this PSA: Hal Mumme...how we miss yo towel eating ass!

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 64 "Nine Lives, One Joker" It's time for the weekly Twivia show that rarely plays with a full deck. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. Commonwealth Stadium seats over 67,000 and has been the Wildcat home since 1972. What place kicker holds the distinction of kicking the longest field goal at Commonwealth?

During football season, I generally try to choose a question that has something relevant to the upcoming game. So when I started digging into Kentucky football history it lead me to Commonwealth Stadium, which in turn lead me to two records there painted in Bulldog red.

Buck Belue to Amp Arnold was the longest pass play of
91 yards on October 25th, 1980.

Hap Hines kicked the longest field goal of 54 yards on October 26th, 1996.

I went with the second one thinking it might be a little more obscure...and desperate to throw off the winner of the past three weeks. Never once did I consider that Hap's record might be confined to collegiate play.

Jenn from La Jolla had other ideas. Her shot in the dark was Monte Merrick, a kicker for Western Kentucky. Had he beaten UK on a last second long one? Or had he played there in a high school game?

The answer to both was no. But Jenn played it up good, at least enough to get me on the google and dial up this Monte kid. Turns out, he's no Hap Hines. But he does have his own website. Either way, it made La Jolla a distant third. Good enough for an official Just Kick'n it with Monte t-shirt...whenever they come out with one.

Paige on the other hand, had the correct answer...just not quite quick enough on the trigger. Her Twitter might be uber, but it's no match for Shan. In it's long and glorious history, TrT has never had a 4 week winner. Ally and Alan came close, but couldn't run their streak to a full month.

As for the fabulous prizes, Paige gets a game used Hal Mumme towel and Shan gets a trophy case...and a racing form from Keeneland. It doesn't appear your luck is gonna run out anytime soon.

Trivial Update - Slamming the 'Dore

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 63 is coming up after this PSA: #BigBadBruce just intercepted another #OleMissyCuddlykins pass & took it back six. Uga VIII 63, Rebel Without Bite 0.

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 63 "Slamming the 'Dore" It's the Twitter Twivia Show that always knows Home is where the Dawgs play. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. What former Dawg has a younger brother who is a RS Fr LB on the Commodores' squad?

I don't know about Brannan's brother Blake, but #36 knew how to pancake a nerd...

Congrats (again!!!) to Shan for having the quickest Google fingers on tha Twittah. For being first he gets a big stack at IHOP. Angie came in second and gets free marriage counseling now that the hubby's rented space in the Twitterverse. Or they might choose a weekend for two in NashVegas. Beautiful city, bad intramural program.

Tune in next time tweeps when we discover just what makes a wildcat wild.

Trivial Update - Ralphie's Run

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 62 is coming up right after this PSA: Buffalo dung is only biodegradable at 5280 feet.

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 62 "Bison and Dressing, then Pumpkin Pie" It's the Twitter Twivia show that's never gasping for oxygen...well, except after @namaman eats too much bean dip. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. The Colorado mascot first appeared in 1934 on Thanksgiving Day in a win over the University of Denver. How much did the students spend to rent the calf?

Remember Ralphie? The female behemoth that nearly trampled the hedges back in '06 before one of her cowgirl handlers slipped and fell to the turf...?

You can require more than one leash and up to 6 handlers with fake chaps, but that doesn't mean you can upstage a dog that rests his manhood on a bag of ice for a living. Bitch please! But one thing Ralphie does have over the world's greatest mascot is a couple decades. Just ask anyone you know from the 1934 class at the University of Denver.

Go ahead...ask...

And evidently Shan was part of that class, cuz he knew those crazy bison herders paid $25 to rent Killer's calf. And for that he gets my Friday bar bill at the Boulder Beer Company and a giftcard to Ted's Montana Grill where he can eat as many buffalo chips as his heart desires. Alan slogged across the finish line, so he picks up my toll bill from the trip and an authentic guitar case from a hippie in downtown Boulder.

Well done boys. You can wipe your feet off before you leave.

**ADDENDUM** Nama also tweeted in, real late. He gets an official Colorado Tree Hugger tandem bike.

Trivial Update - Dandelions, Cowbells and Curfew

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 61 coming up right after this PSA: It takes exactly an IQ of 2 to ring a cowbell. #justsayin'

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 61 "Starkvegas Got Curfew" It's time for the Twitter Twivia show that picks flowers and winners anytime of the day it wants. Dawgs bite the Bizarro Bulldogs in Starkvegas this weekend. But before they do REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. A Bernie favorite has always been Johnny Cash. He famously spent a night in the Stakville City Jail once. In the song he wrote relating the experience, after they released him the next morning he said "Gimme them things of mine!" What three things did the Man in Black get in return?

First off, a special shout-out to Alan, Shan and Adam. They were last week's trivial participants who went unrecognized for their knowledge due to my feverish forgetfulness. I've taken the liberty of using the BDB petty cash to FedEx a box of Twinkies to each of you. You're welcome!

And now for some musical interluding...

Luckily, our boys only get sent to the pokey for things like alley emergence and false and inappropriate vehicular registrations. We haven't had a flower picker on roster since Goof left the sideline.

Anyhoo....it's been five years since DJ led us to victory in Stark'dville. But as usual, Shan is up for the challenge each and every week. He tweeted in 60 seconds before Ally with the correct answer of a sneer, a guitar pick and a dandelion. Shan gets a handful of pills covered in pocket lint and a half empty fifth of Evan Williams. Ally gets a nice FTD bouquet of dandelions.

Oh! And Jennifer tweeted in as well with wallet, keys and booze. Which I thought was a pretty good shot at it all things considered. So she gets a t-shirt (finally!) that reads I Broke Curfew in Starkville and All I Got Was This %$!* T-shirt. Wear it with pride...anywhere and anytime!

Trivial Update - Running Thru the Chicken Coop

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep. 59 coming up right after this PSA: Grab a chicken Dawg. Almost time to smoke em!

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 59 "Running Thru the Chicken Coop" It's time for the Twitter Twivia Show that never has that tired old chicken $hit smell. At least not on gamedays. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. The last time the Dawgs barked in Chickumbia, this player was second on the team in rushing yards, but led the team in longest rush after a 30 yard jaunt down inside the Visor's 5 yard line. Who was he?

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Just two years ago we went into Lamecock Land pretty full of ourselves. High ranking. All star QB and an electrifying running back. But like most trips there, we quickly began to realize that this time would take as much guts, determination and quick legs as any other.

Stafford's legs weren't quite fast enough to take him to Glory, Glory...but it certainly stirred up the fowl. (about 2 minutes in if you're pressed for time)

Good stuff. A h/t to Mackie on the video sequence.

Back to the trivia, it was Adam who chimed in first, but he quickly redacted his tweet. Let's just say his reasoning was there, but his logic was off. Then came Scott who correctly guessed the current Detroit Lions QB (and reserve QB on my fantasy team) followed by Ally. These three tweeps are clearly ready to taste the chicken.

I've got some framed pictures to give out today. Although none are autographed, I can assure you they are chicken waste free. Scott gets one of the game saving fumble recovery. Ally claims the one of Spurrier's curious and quizzical jaw jut. Classic! And Adam...he gets one of Carlton Thomas.

Remember where to place the beer cans tomorrow Reader.

Trivial Update - Turning the Andouille Over

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 58 coming up right after this PSA: We always knew Spurrier was a cock.

#ThursdaysRTrivial ep 58 "What Makes a Cajun Ragin'?" It's time for the Twitter Twivia show that's got a hankerin' for some andouille. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. In 2009 UL-L snagged 16 opponents' passes, which ranked them tied for _____ in the nation.

Reminds me of this gem:

So the Ragin' Cajuns are who we think they are...which is a team returning 10 interceptions from last year's team. So we can't get all loosy goosy with the ball even this week.

And Scott understands that. He came in with the correct tweet which he gleaned from this post at The Grit Tree. Scott takes home a full 10 pounds of sausage. I trust he knows what to do with it.

Trivial Update - Dawg Breeds Dogs

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 57 is coming up right after this PSA: Nine days. That is all.

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 57 "Nice Dog Dawg"...It's the Twitter Twivia show that's full of kibbles and bits. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. @BD_Illustrated had a nice podcast the other day of Bacarri Rambo talking about his dog Jeezy. What former Dawg has a breeding kennel that has produced pitbull puppies for DJ Shockley, Laila Ali and Chili of TLC?

I hate to mention this name for the first time on this blog, but when Mike Vick officially became a dillweed Sean Bailey was a voice of reason for dog owners, especially pitbull owners. That was about the time I first found his site devoted to his kennel.

From the tweets it seems I wasn't the only one in tune with Bailey's post-Dawg passion for dogs.

After I took that HyperSnap, @Namaman also tweeted in with the correct answer. He may have been tardy to the party, but he's one DamnGoodDawg you don't leave behind. More on his heroics in another post.

So...@TNRLM edged out the competition for first and takes home a LSU jockstrap that was left on the GA Dome floor back in December of '05 (video evidence below). @The_Real_Paige gets a Sean Bailey jersey custom made for her own dog. Nama...he gets a mulligan tomorrow. What else?

Meanwhile, Sean Bailey ladies and gentlemen, in one of my all-time favorite games. (low quality video, but best I could find)

Sometimes it sucks to be a cajun.

Trivial Update - Fraternal Dawgs

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 56  coming up right after this PSA: You can't spell DNA without a D...a N....and an A....you're welcome!

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 56 " DNA, Dawg!" Welcome everyone to the Twitter Twivia show that's just an apple that didn't fall far from the tree...but in a good way. REPLY back your answer for a chance at a fabulous prize. Fill in the blank to finish this Coach Richt quote related to the Ogletree twins: "Alec is obvious. But Zander is a good football player in his own right and a ________ guy."

Joe Waterloo used to tell me I was the glue when referencing our group of friends. He did that even though I never took my high school football team to the state semifinals. But Zander's no Bernie...thank God.

Really enjoyed this piece by Clarkson and getting to know the Ogletree twins a little more. And the quote above summarizes the recruitment pretty well. Of course it's early. And many will see CMRs glowing analysis of Zander as just trying to justify the scholarship offer, but I think it's just a matter of time before Zander justifies the offer with his play on the field.

And this one stumped some people. Paige tried...and Alan tried. Then Paige tried again. Neil commented. But in the end it was TrT pro Ally who came up with the answer. She gets a Newnan County pompom and the rest get some leftover cake from the wedding last weekend.

You can eat it too.

Trivial Update - Picking Flowers Winners in Starkville

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 55 coming up after this PSA: Some people blaze trails, some pick flowers. Thanks to Johnny Cash you can do both now in Starkville MS.

#ThursdaysRTrivial episode 55 "From FABULOUS to ACTUAL" Have a seat everyone, it's time for the weekly twitter twivia show that's an arrested development, not an arrested country singer. REPLY back your answer for a chance at an ACTUAL prize. The Dawgs play the dogs in Starkville on Sept 25th. It'll be a homecoming of sorts for OL Josh Davis of Tylertown High School. What other Tylertown HS product will play in the game?

I wish I could remember where I saw the comment. It may have been on Twitter, but I think it was on a message board. But the guy said how the Dawgs' away uniforms were his favorite, that there was something special about  seeing them in the opponents' stadium.

I couldn't agree more. No, there's no place like Sanford. And I'd rather be there on a Fall Saturday than anywhere else. But experiencing the sights and sounds of Glory, Glory away from home is simply awesome. But it must be tenfold for the Dawgs who are suddenly much closer to home, friends and loved ones. I hope Josh Davis makes a stack of pancakes in Starkville.

I intended to have a BIG announcement prior to this episode. And just as I was preparing for it, news broke about McGarity...then Branden...then Banks. So suddenly my BIG news was noticeably SMALL. But the show had to go on.

And going from 54 episodes of plain old fabulous prizes to an actual prize really brought out the trash talk. The tension was palpable, and the results produced another photo finish.

So...Scott gets TrTs first actual prize! (confetti...Price is Right babes...catchy music...you know, the works) Shan gets more cowbell...what else? Mike gets an Alex Trebek bobblehead doll. Many thanks to Mary of ecollegefinder for the sponsorship. You can dress like Scott too if you'd like, just visit MitchellandNess.com.

And if you'd like to sponsor an episode of ThursdaysRTrivial, just hit me up.
