Nike Pro Combat Unis...a lonely nation turns its eyes to you

Finally. Today the national crisis is over. Everyone who keeps fretting over the uniform for the Boise State game can finally catch your much needed peek at the threads. We're like a bunch of kids anticipating the day when finally Santa leaves the surprise for a morning unveiling. We know it's coming. And we know when it's coming. We just don't know what it is.

And that's evidently too much for some to handle, even with practices, scrimmages and injury news to use as a distraction.

I know I've given Coach Richt his share of the blame for our obsessiveness over uniforms. But frankly, even given the black jerseys of both Glory, Glory and #epicfail...the attention paid towards uniforms that Nike has provided the program to use for the opening game is embarrassing.

As many head over to Picture Day and the rest wait for the cyber unveiling, I only ask that you remember two things when you decide whether you like the uniforms or not: it's one game and fans don't have to wear them.

Yes, the hand-wringing is finally over. Unless it's just beginning.

They look as slick as owl squeeze. The over/under on UGA fumbles is set at 3.

And I very seriously doubt Richt had any input on the unitards. And long as they stomp on the broncos and turn them into dawg food I really could care less what they wear. Dudes on the rant sound like a buncha' whinya$$ chics at a fashion show. GATA!

I checked them out and think they look slammin. I love it. Love the silver helmet with the wide red stripe, very cool. The all red jersey and pants look distinctive, with a retro-modern feel. Nike did a great job. I'd like to us wear this uniform more than once.

Dawg fans... it's time to get over this silly tradition thang and embrace the future! I like our regular uniforms, but it's nice to have something different thrown into the mix.

What I fail to really understand about most of the fans' ire is that they bring up things like tradition and not liking the red pants. What do they think Bill Bates last view was after Herschel planted him in Knoxville? - red pants.

And someone in the media tweeted earlier that McGarity had the suggestion for the face mask, with the red drip look, as a throwback to Erk.

So overall, I think they're a great mix of tradition and awesome sauce. Plus, the players LOVE them. Which means recruits will as well.

Where exactly do you see the tradition in the new uniforms? The fact that they have a "G" on them? I'm surprised Nike didn't screw with that because this is ALL about them. The more ridiculous looking the clown suit, the more attention it brings to them.

"Plus the players LOVE them"...and Richt even makes the statement that the players liking them "is all that matters". WTF? This just increases the perception that, as the old expression goes, the inmates are running the asylum.

OMG. Who cares what the uni's look like as long as there are Dawgs wearing them, i'll cheer for them. Yes the silver britches are awesome. Yes, the red helmet is the best in football, but my Lord, get a life, it is one game and the only thing I care about that game is what the scoreboard says at the end. and no, the unis will not have anything to do with what that score is. Go dawgs!
