Fan Pulse: the SEC

Phil Steele's been running a poll for his readers to see what we think the pecking order is in each conference. It's not exactly scientific, but what is scientific in college football? Especially this time of year. Here's where things stand so far:

So as of right now the SEC East is a pretty tight race. Carolina and Georgia both end with just one conference loss and the Gamecocks return to ATL based on a close vote in Athens September 10th. Meanwhile in the West, Bama's pretty much blowing through everybody. At the other end of the barrel, Vanderbilt narrowly edges out the Admiral Akbars for worst team in the SEC.

Here's the link to the actual polls if you'd like to participate. 15 days people and this all gets real!

I think Miss St will be very good again this year, we'll lose a close one there. Tenn-UGA goes to home team, last 4 in a row, we play them in Tenn this time, another loss. Florida? UGA has a 2-8 record under CMR, I don't expect a W here ever. Auburn? Never know--LSU won 11 games with poor QB play, so don't count out Auburn just because they lost Newton. Ga Tech is always a 1 td game, could go either way.

Dang Tim, ease up on the coffee bro. And realize you are alive another day. I don't think I have ever seen such pessimism in my life. MSU, barely won a lot of games last year. Lost their big starting NT and their D Coordinator, who kept them in those games last year. At best, I see them winning 7 games. As bad as UGA did against winning teams last year, Tenn did worse. Auburn, the Defense will not have Fairly to spear AM in the back and get him thinking about it too much, so GA may score 50 on em. And no Cam to bring them back.

LSU won 11 games because they play lights out Defense, something no one could ever say about Auburn the last 2 years.

The only thing I agree with you about is Florida, GA needs to win a few and GTU, with the option, they will keep the game close and will depend on if they can stop GA.

So lighten up buddy, 2 weeks we know one way or the other.
