National Signing Day Liveblog - 2015

Today ends a process the coaches started years ago. Building relationships and building this class of new players. Hopefully tailored specifically to the team's needs. And for the players faxing forms today, today ends a process they started many years ago. Congrats to all of them!

Here's some links of interest, if you were to ask me.

- Wanna know what it's like to fly under the radar? MaconDawg interviews preferred walkon commit Nick Robinson, who is coming all the way from California!
- Preach Blutarsky! There's recruiting for stars, and then there's recruiting for prosperity. Hopefully we get a very well-rounded class today.
- Dude You Crazy was kind enough to link every post he's written about this class.
- The Dawgbone, as usual, will have all the updated links.
- You can follow my NSD list here. Or just use the widget below.
- And if you really get bored, you can find some of the fun we got into previously in 2014 2013  2012  2011  2010 & 2009.

I'll post some pics and try to have the coaches' video posted later on. For now, I'm off to grab some coffee and hit the road! Go Dawgs!!

--------

First things first...

Light crowd, but building.

- 10:30. Two big targets announce in the next 45 minutes, both for positions of need. Do we get both Roquan Smith and Rico McGraw? (I say yes.)

- btw, Yall see Coach bUTTchugger...
 Definite two star.

- Richt to speak in about twenty minutes.
- Nope, he's early. Let's see if I can get these loaded.
- videos will take a while from my phone, but will be posted asap.

- can't embed from my phone. And I got a call in the middle of filming. That evidently stops the camera. Wtf. Anyway, here's the link to part one - http://youtu.be/ccFysWISUyw

- Rico is a huge get. Glad he flipflipflopped.

National Signing Day Liveblog - 2014

Editor's Note - I just noticed that the videos my phone told me were uploaded were not really completed before I shut things down. I'm uploading them tonight and will have them posted tomorrow for those of you who didn't get a chance to see things live. Good stuff.

The long road of luring kids to Athens - through endless tape evaluation, talking to coaches, sitting down with mommas, transcript evaluation, unofficial visits, phone calls, texts, officials visits, tweets - finally comes to end today. It's National Signing Day!

If you're reading this, you're probably following along from home, your office and in some Bangladeshian internet cafe. Regardless of where you are there's a lot to read in order to stay on top of all the news. So here are some links to get you started.
  • My first recommendation would be two twitter lists I've created. Here's one specific to UGA Signing Day, and this one is devoted to recruiting coverage in the southeast. I'm sure both will fly along quickly today.

  • Another great click will surely be at GeorgiaDogs.com where Radi Nabulsi and DJ Shockley will host a live broadcast complete with late breaking news, interviews with coaches and insider information.

  • DawgSports' recruiting player profiles. And also this primer including announcement times for some key targets.

  • BulldawgIllustrated's ongoing coverage is sure to be a hotspot today.

And if you really get bored, you can find some of the fun we got into previously in  2013  2012  2011  2010 & 2009. For now, I'm off to grab some coffee and get on all my red and black! Be back later with some pictures and updates. Go Dawgs!!

Couple more links as I head out the door:

- remember Thomas Davis? Tyler does.

- "Brick by Brick" beginning to sound a lot like "The Process".

Narrowed it down to two y'all.

National Signing Day Liveblog 2013

Welcome to National Signing Day coverage for 2013! Hope you didn't fall for any Grantham to [insert NFL team name here] rumors last night. Remember what I've been telling you all along and we'll be okay.

So, what are you getting into here? Glad you asked. Here are the links to previous NSD posts, both live and semi-live: 2012 2011  2010  2009. That's right! This is the FIFTH ANNUAL NSD LIVEBLOG! It's come a long way since the early days back in 2009. Today you'll find some polls, tweets, comments and archived pics and videos to entertain you while we wait for the fax machine to start churning.

If you comment, please bear with me. This is the best liveblog app I could find, but unfortunately the moderator (me) has to approve each comment. If I'm driving or something is happening on the floor, it might take a few minutes for me to click publish on your comment. Be patient and feel free to ask questions. Especially all you Disney Dawgs!

Also, once the coaches come out to speak, we'll pretty much have radio silence here as I work to get position on a good video angle. I'll publish that video for you to see before I break for lunch. And as always, most of this depends on me being able to "borrow" a little WiFi from Wally Butts and Harry Mehre. Wish me luck!

Enough of that stuff. Let's get this started! Sit back. Hit the F5 key as often as you like, but the liveblog window refreshes automatically. Go Dawgs!

Gameday Liveblog - GDay 2012

Ok, here's the deal. I realize a lot of you can't come to Athens today. So I'm going to try and have some pictures and videos up here for you to see at least some of the action. Unfortunately I won't be there until about kickoff due to a kid's soccer game this morning. So I won't have any footage of the alumni game. But if I can get three females motivated toward the same goal around noon then I should get good enough seats to give you a decent view of some action.

In the mean time, here's some reading material.
  • Charley Trippi Day sounds like it was a success.
  • Also a great story here on Jack Loonam.
  • Uga IX should be ready to replace the Legendary Russ by Picture Day it sounds like.
  • UGA released the Spring Awards yesterday. Here's the list.
  • One of the more intriguing things to watch today will be the offensive line which has the task of blocking one of the greatest defenses in the nation. In related news, Max Garcia is nearing a decision ($$).
  • A quick story about Justin Scott-Wesley and his relationship with his father.
  • Lastly, I've got a special GATArchives planned for next week. So as you watch today's action (whether live in Sanford, or recorded through CSS) and/or read about what happened in the papers think about how GDay is structured and if there are better/different ways to organize it other than splitting the team in two.

National Signing Day 2012

Ok, so you want to know what you're getting into here today. Well here are the links to previous NSD posts, both live and semi-live: 2011  2010  2009 That should give you a frame of reference. Here's some other reading material while we wait for Richt to turn on the fax machine.

The Dawgcast's Annual Reverse Recruiting Show looks at the 2008 class and how it lived (or didn't live) up to expectations.
- Leather Helmet's  Signing Day Eve Thread and Podcast
- Tyler's perspective on NSD as well as some guesses on the mystery recruits
- Speaking of which, Dawg Day Afternoon has an idea who it is
- Chad Simmons' Signing Day Eve Insider Report ($$)
- ESPNs Recruiting Confidential - some top prospects "spill all" about life as a national recruit ($$)

The rules for the liveblog are simple: read, ask questions, make comments, be respectful. If you don't see your comment right away, be patient. We have to approve them manually and if there's something happening on the floor then the liveblog must take a brief backseat. We'll have pictures and videos up as well as bonus commentary. Also feel free to weigh in on a poll/trivia question.

Other than that, grab a comfortable seat, take the business phone off the hook and be ready for what is shaping up to be a GREAT DAY TO BE A BULLDOG! And if you like what you have here, by all means....click DONATE below. No amount too small and some prizes will be given away to at least three contributors.

On with the show...

Gameday Liveblog - WLOCP

Good morning from the Golden Isles.
Good morning from the Golden Isles.

So here we are. Let's do this. I'll update throughout the day. Feel free to comment and hike your leg on a gator's leg. Go Dawgs!
This is what happens when a blogger
leaves his laptop unattended.
Time to hit the road. Pass the bloody Mary mix.

What I'm thinking:
- we'll miss Malcolm Mitchell but I think we still have enough weapons out wide to hurt Florida.
- anxious to see our defense match up. Really believe we have the talent and speed to shut down their offense.
- that being said, we have to stay disciplined and not over commit to the redirection. And Jenkins has to be ready to handle the load in the middle.
- I'm hearing it's doubtful Brantley plays. He didn't take any snaps Wednesday in practice. But like I've said before, I don't give a crap who plays or them. Just hit them early and often.
- Crowell will play but I think he might be sitting during next week's cupcake.

Some pics...

This just in: Georgia girls are classy and Florida girls are trashy.

Just walked into the stadium and avoided six fights. Did I win or lose?

Hey CMR...you're getting out coached by effin muschamp. What do you have to say?

Halftime story time...

The Legend of the Stadium Cup

Last year after the dramatically crappy ending to the GA-fla game, Nama and I made our way to the car. He had driven down, so it was my turn to drive us back to SSI. He poured a stiff drink into his stadium cup. But in the confusion of trying to get out of the lot, we ended up shutting the trunk with the cup of bourbon just sitting there.

We drove back. It's about 70 miles or so, mostly interstate of course. But plenty of bumps along the way. And sure enough, when we parked at the condo and opened the trunk again, the was the cup. Still upright. Not a drop spilled.

Proof that Dawgs can lose the game, but never lose the tailgate.

Now back to your regular Jax suckitude...

Gameday Liveblog - the 'Dores

The Dawgs' second business trip in as many weeks. Can we keep the Commodores in their place? Can the defense keep up the intensity?

Let's get after it!

Gameday Liveblog - Boise State

Welcome to a new season Dawg fans! We'll be popping in and out with sights and sounds from outside the Georgia Dome. We're going to interview some Tweeters at the Tweetgate and hopefully wrangle some BSU fans to ask their thoughts on the game and why there's so much acid rain out in Idaho that it's turning the fields blue. If you have a question or comment, just post it.

Let's get after it!

National Signing Day 2011

Welcome to the 3rd annual NSD coverage, live from Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall. Have iPhone, Waffle House indigestion, fax paper and a battery backup...will travel! The live blog below goes live at 6:00am. Follow along as time allows for updates, some pics and (fingers crossed) some video.

I'm streaming some twitter feeds of media and recruiting types straight to the live blog so you can get info as it happens. There's also a couple polls up you can vote on. And of course comment as often as you'd like. If you have a question, just let me know. I'll activate comments as often as I can.

Some time savers while you wait:
  • Kit and Kyle have their latest podcast up, where they cover some recruiting, Stacy Searels leaving and a little basketball.
  • In case you haven't heard it yet, Derek and Ol' Dawg have their annual reverse-recruiting show for your listening pleasure.
  • Also, to give you an idea of what the hell I do at Butts-Mehre all morning, here's last year's live blog and 2009's NSD Journal
  • Once you tire of my song and dance, you can also check out the official one at Georgiadogs.com.
  • And lastly, Groo summarizes this recruiting season up to the big day. Great read.
With any luck, Champ Bailey will again ask me how the class is looking. Cuz I think we'll be able to say...pretty damn good!
