Cornelius Washington responds to Facebook post

Maybe you heard about the backlash on social media following the Isaiah Crowell dismissal last week. Rising senior Cornelius Washington took to his Facebook page to voice his frustrations. Now he's had some time to cool off and here's what he has to say:

“To: The Dawg Nation
I have gotten word that my post on Facebook has gotten a lot of buzz over the past week or so and there are a few things that I would like to say: Although everyone is entitled to their own opinions (even all the people who had negative things to say), I am at fault because no matter how I felt I should never have let those feeling get control of my better judgment. I should have kept it to myself and let the entire situation die down. My biggest regret about the whole thing is that it has cause so much disruption amongst the team. I forgot for a minute that I am here to get an education and play football and that pretty much is the extent of my responsibilities. I am not here to complain about the fanatics and for that I do apologize. I am a leader and I care about the guys that I lead. Believe me, I do know and understand that my teammate made a very bad decision and had to face the consequences, but I rather support him than be negative toward him. I rather help him succeed because I saw all the work that he had put in since spring and I was looking forward to seeing him play! The bottom line is that he has moved on and I’m happy he has found a place to continue his career, but the best thing for UGA football is to let this go and move forward positively. I would like to ask all the fans and supporters out there to help us with this by letting it go also. We have to continue to work hard and do our very best to get to Miami like we planned and I want all of you along for the ride.

The CMR self-imposed sanction

Within a week a gun and playing time transfer have sent two more players out of town. Crowell was summarily dismissed based on his conduct, while inside linebacker Brandon Burrows announced yesterday that he would be leaving to pursue a defensive end spot somewhere else. It takes a CPA to keep up with all the comings and goings. God knows I'm no math major, but I know we're no where near 85.

It's certainly not Richt's fault that any player chooses to be a dumbass or decides to pursue another opportunity. But we might as well be on probation with these numbers. It's like coming home with glitter on your collar and a receipt to the local strip club in your pocket, without the added benefit of a guilty conscience.

Flashback: 1985 Bama

Ok, this one was a loss but it was a helluva game. You probably remember that Herschel's jersey was retired at halftime. If not, then this previous post will set the stage for the game more than adequately.

GATArchives: Game Between the Hoses

Seemingly, the 1986 Georgia Bulldogs were limping into Opelika to play their annual game against Auburn. Knee injuries had plagued the backfield and quarterback James Jackson wouldn't be able to play either due to an ankle injury. The Dawgs were unranked and faced a tall order in a top ten Auburn Tiger team. Backup QB Wayne Johnson had attempted 4 passes on the season. It looked to be a long night.


But the defense was opportunistic and the offense kept catching the plainsmen off guard, so somehow Dooley's Dawgs managed a 20-16 victory...before the real action began. Celebrating fans rushed the field and hoses were turned on to control them. In a word, it was bedlam.


A few weeks ago we looked at Otto and how he filled in so admirably during the Auburn game of '86. Now, Dawg19 has the entire game loaded up and ready to view. From the opening drive to the hoses being turned on the fans on the field and in the stands.

"It's a little chilly to be getting drenched down there."
