The CMR self-imposed sanction

Within a week a gun and playing time transfer have sent two more players out of town. Crowell was summarily dismissed based on his conduct, while inside linebacker Brandon Burrows announced yesterday that he would be leaving to pursue a defensive end spot somewhere else. It takes a CPA to keep up with all the comings and goings. God knows I'm no math major, but I know we're no where near 85.

It's certainly not Richt's fault that any player chooses to be a dumbass or decides to pursue another opportunity. But we might as well be on probation with these numbers. It's like coming home with glitter on your collar and a receipt to the local strip club in your pocket, without the added benefit of a guilty conscience.

I'm just gonna throw this out there so maybe more educated folks than me can enlighten me. Burrows in itself people say is not a big loss (with him being a DE) but whats to say his size and agility wouldn't make him a good tackle and we all know we are short handed there. It's just a question cause i don't know I'd like a little insight on this thought

Doesn't appear as if Burrows is going to get healthy enough to play at this level. Can't blame him for wanting to see the field but I don't think he was going to be able to deliver at UGa. Glad CMR was willing to hold his place for him. On the flip side of that ..... Coach Satan has transformed college ball into a semi-pro league. He would have cut Burrows loose and found another player. I think Alabama has to cut two players to get down to 85. That's how it's played in todays SEC. "You cannot win........if you do not play."

He'd be a good d end in a 4-3 when healthy. Grantham had him as an ILB because he has the size for a 3-4 ILB. I think Burrows is around 240 and about 6'2". Hope he finds a good fit somewhere.

It's a new age. Seems like we're light years behind.

I appreciate the research there. I can only imagine how much this hurts us in August when we're trying to prepare for an SEC slate with an FCS sized roster.

Bernie,
Good point. As well on your call that we don't have a home game worth driving to Athens for. We kept a running total for what we spent last season. It was $ 10,000. For our return, we got beat no team who made any top 25 again 2011, beat none of the 27 teams who made 10-win seasons, beat none of the 36 teams who made 9-win seasons again, beat no team who made the AP Poll Top 10 again as we've not done so since # 9 Auburn in 2006, and for good measure beat no SEC team who made a winning SEC record, again, as we haven't starting with the Kentucky game in 2007.
We also have all this bad press that this guy whom Mark Richt gave his scholarship to, dropped to the # 52 rated defensive end after getting injured at Walton, and once again, these all turn out busts. What a nice guy Mark Richt for giving up a whole entire scholarship recruiting slot to guy whom every other team determined was at best a walk-on if even a preferred walk-on.
How does he re-pay Mark Richt for this kindness ?
He transfers out.
We're saps.
Although we have this schedule 2012, it's still a 14-game season and somewhere in there, there better be a game against Alabama or LSU. We have the entire secondary on double-secret suspension. It will not be advised to we fans investing our $ 10,000 until maybe even after kick-off. We might even have to wait until game 3, see who plays that game, and which of those then, did not play the 1st 2 games to even know which players are suspended, according to
Greg McGarity.
Completely and utterly against our UGA written policy all of us wrote because of all the
BAD PRESS.
Remember last season, when we were told : "Addition by Subtraction. Good Riddance. Get on the bus."
Now, fast forward 1 year and we have 33 for 2012 whom Mark Richt gave scholarships to to play 2012 who now are just totally gone from the program, again.
I read one guy today on a blog say that Mark Richt gets it. Isn't it wonderful and great that Mark Richt gets it that 33 scholarships he gave out like this for 2012, are gone
AGAIN.
Same as 2011, which is exactly what I told them then would happen 2012.
And, exactly as I guarantee you now will happen again 2013.
Those in the know seem to think that we cannot dig ourselves out of this hole in 2013, indeed, maybe not for years hence.
We've seen the comparative numbers for every SEC team.
It "sucks" our roster mis-management has gotten us to this point.
I await next week, when once again, we hear the AD tell us he might have watered-down our home schedule too much, and when once again, Mark Richt announces what a nice guy he is, while another of his failed recruits throws it back into his face and transfers out.
If we sign 34 February, 10 will be gone in short order. 10.
And, the worst part of it all ?
Mark Richt telling us that he does not over-sign.
Sure he does. 107 over-signed to his 85-man limit for 2012, of which he has exactly 68 remaining plus he has 1 transfer-in. 107-68
39 missing and Isaiah Crowell is the poster-child of the group.

Well, we play mostly FCS type opponents, 11 games against teams who average 4.8 wins. 1 team who made any top 25 poll, and we lost that game last year for the 2nd year in a row, because our qb gave the game away by himself, totally. They do limit FCS teams to far fewer than 85-scholarship limit the NCAA gives the FBS with just 63-man scholarship limit the NCAA gives FCS. It's not a stretch to say we reach that. Take game 1 for example, we're under that limit, thus Steve O. Spurrier's comment.
