Homeless Cocks Distracted...Disrupted

On Thursday, South Crackalacky had a few more players, including two or three starters according to DC Ellis Johnson, move out of the Whitney hotel.

The Visor is taking things in stride considering his players' recent homelessness:
But all of our guys are going to pay their bill and hopefully go live somewhere else. That's what we hope happens — that they pay their bills up and go live somewhere else. That's about all I can say about it.
But Johnson seemed perturbed:
Distractions, disruptions, distractions, disruptions. You know, girlfriends are distractions. Classes are distractions. Everything's a distraction. We've got to learn how to grow up and get past that, and focus when it's time to focus.
Sounds like Johnson and I had the same Biology 101 class...twice.

In other Chickumbia news, Spurrier also said that he expects potentially pro TE Weslye Saunders (a central figure in WhitneyGate) to play in the opener September 2nd as the investigation and possible rulings should be done by then. And he also said freshman Connor Shaw will play in the opener as he has outplayed junior Stephen Garcia. Shaw started Thursday's scrimmage with the first team offense.

No word on if Garcia's just been distracted...by packing boxes...or parked cars...or girlfriends.

Spurrier is quoted in the article as saying that he was aware the players were living in the hotel, so... if it turns out that they weren't paying rent, going to be hard for him to plead total ignorance. And yes, Ellis Johnson, classes are a distraction! It's time to focus.

Just because Spurrier was aware his players were living at The Whitney, certainly is no proof that he would have been aware of their individual payment arrangements or any special deals given to the players by the Whitney. That's absurd.

This meme of Coaches MUST know of every little detail & indiscretion by the 100+ players in their care is ludicrous at best. I'm hardly a Spurrier apologist, but it doesn't take a genius to know Coaches cannot be held responsible or expected to know every minute detail of 100+ athletes' lives. It's the same asinine argument that Richt is a bad Coach & not doing his job when a player gets arrested. Absolutely absurd.

Facts we do know: Players receive ~$550 monthly stipend yet the monthly rent per player at the Whitney (if they weren't doubling up) is ~$800/month. Clearly, they'll now have to show proof they paid the regular rate, not given a discount at the Whitney, and show the source of any extra monthly income.

Ally, Ally, Ally. You are right in the literal sense that he personally can't follow his players around 24/7, but he doesn't have to: he has assistants, tutors, and assorted other personnel for that. He shouldn't be able to claim total ignorance. The test for this in most legal analyses is knew or should have known.
